UETDRRF006 – Perform Tower Rescue

SUMMARY
This course is designed for those who are required to perform tower rescue and provide emergency care at an incident.
This unit covers the performance of rescue procedures from an electricity supply industry (ESI) tower in the workplace. It specifies the mandatory requirements of rescue from an ESI tower and how they apply in the context of transmission, distribution or rail work functions. It encompasses responsibilities for health, safety and risk management processes at all operative levels and adherence to safety practices as part of the normal way of doing work.
Students will attain the practical application and understanding required to perform tower rescue operations and will be able to:

1 | Prepare to perform tower rescue | 1.1 | Instruction in hazards and risk control measures for specific work areas and work activities are identified and obtained |

| 1.2 | Tools and emergency equipment are checked for safety, functionality and placed in an accessible location to facilitate response and rescue according to established procedures |
2 | Carry out tower rescue | 2.1 | Workplace procedures and work instructions for controlling risk are followed |

| 2.2 | Workplace procedures for accessing the tower, removing the victim, where necessary, and from contact with live apparatus and are followed |

| 2.3 | Workplace procedures for attaching the emergency lowering equipment and lowering the victim to the ground are followed |
|
| 2.4 | Workplace procedures for carrying out cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), if required at the site, and treatment, where necessary, by medical professionals are followed |

| 2.5 | The worksite is secured and entry controlled until appropriate authorities inspect and release the site |
3 | Complete the performance of the tower rescue procedure | 3.1 | Processes for reporting to accidents and/or incidents to authorised personnel are confirmed in accordance with established procedures |

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
- Saferight requires that participants hold a Work Safely at Heights Certificate (RIIWHS204D or equivalent) issued within the last 2 years, prior to attending this course
- Present photo I.D. on arrival
- Complete a ‘Fitness to Complete Training’ form. The student is required to declare any medical issue that may exclude them from full participation
- Wear normal work clothing, enclosed footwear and remove all jewellery prior to commencement
PRE-REQUISITES
HLTAID009 – Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation or equivalent
CERTIFICATION
On successful completion of this course students will be issued with a Nationally Recognised Statement of Attainment for the units listed below along with a wallet sized card:
- UETDRRF006 – Perform Tower Rescue
The Unique Student Identifier (USI) must be supplied and verified prior to issuance.
CERTIFICATION EXPIRY
Your Certificate does not have an expiry date, however, industry standards recommend retraining every two years.
