I have served 16 years in Special Forces and 2 tours (Counter Terrorism) faithfully for Australia. This year 2020, marks 75 years since Victory in the Pacific which included the first battle on Australian Territory on the Kokoda Track (Papua New Guinea). This year also marks the 105th anniversary of the Gallipoli campaign which saw troops departing from Albany, W.A. Through the fire of battle, we forged the Anzac spirit.

Adversity can be a harsh teacher. Its lessons often define our lives. Those pivotal moments remain indelibly in our hearts and minds. As a nation and as a community, we have a responsibility to ensure we will always remember the service and sacrifice of those who served our nation in times of war, conflicts, and peacekeeping duties.

I will end my message with the fourth stanza of Laurence Binyon’s poem, ‘For the Fallen’

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

Lest we forget.

God bless our service men and women especially those in the Special Forces.

Warm regards,
Mack McCormack
