Overview

This course is designed to provide participants with an understanding of defensive driving techniques, safe driving on a variety of terrains and the knowledge of 4WD recovery equipment.

 

PRE-REQUISITE A current Australian drivers license (C Class). Licenses must be presented to the Training Instructor prior to commencement of the course. (Please advise when booking courses if any participants will be on an extraordinary license as particular conditions apply).

DEFINITIONS:
  • Identify 4WD specific terminology and techniques
    • Environmental impacts when using a 4WD
    • Identify hazards when using a 4WD
    • Perform pre-departure checks
    • Perform maintenance and minor repairs
    • Operate a 4WD as per procedures and client's requirements in various terrain
    • Recover 4WD while considering risks
    • Hazards and risks associated with driving
    • Use a single snatch strap to recover a vehicle
    • Perform a wheel change including risk assessment

    Note: If training is carried out on site, the client is responsible for travel and accommodation costs.

    TRAINEE/INSTRUCTOR RATIO: Minimum 2:1 — Maximum 4:1

    CLOTHING: Wear normal work clothing and enclosed footwear.
