Fire Warden Training overview

This Fire Warden Training course is aimed at those in the role of a Fire Warden and are responsible for participating in the preparation of workplace emergency procedures; alerting and reporting potential workplace emergencies; evaluating the need to evacuate a work area; preparing for an evacuation; and assisting people who may require support in accordance with workplace emergency procedures.

This unit of competency involves the skills and knowledge required to work within the command, control and coordination structure of an Emergency Control Organisation (ECO). An ECO’s priority is the safety of facility occupants and visitors during an emergency which means ECO members are responsible for pre-emergency, emergency and post emergency actions. It includes undertake pre-emergency planning, taking appropriate actions in an emergency and assisting with post emergency activities.

Students will attain the practical application and understanding essential to perform the responsibilities of a fire warden and will be able to:

  1. Pre-Emergency Planning: Establish processes for accessing and implementing facility emergency response procedures, identify emergency control organization, review documentation, and report equipment deficiencies.
  2. Actions During Emergencies: Respond to emergency signals, wear proper identification, assess situations, assist occupants needing help, operate emergency stations, implement emergency procedures, and manage communications.
  3. Post-Emergency Activities: Collaborate for facility re-entry, implement safe re-entry processes, and document actions for debriefing.

  1. Present photo I.D. on arrival
  2. Complete a ‘Fitness to Complete Training’ form upon arrival at the training facility. The student is required to declare any medical issue that may exclude them from full participation
  3. Bring along your own PPE: Gloves, high vis vests, you must wear enclosed shoes and remove all jewellery prior to course commencement.

On successful completion of this course, students will receive a:

Your certificate does not have an expiry date, however, industry standards recommend retraining every two years.

The Unique Student Identifier (USI) must be supplied and verified prior to issuance.
